Soccer Source's Top 25 Clubs In Mid-Week Action

With the Champions League and UEFA Cup taking a breather this week, domestic FAs have leapt into the void and scheduled a full slate of midweek games. A lot of it is cup competition but several big leagues--chief among them Serie A and La Liga--are on as well, with the Roma derby one major highlight. Not a bad day to call in sick if you're in the Americas or take a night in front of the telly if you're in Europe. Let's see what's on tap for this week's top 25 (TV listings for U.S. audience courtesy of soccerTV.com):

1. Arsenal. Face Sheffield in Carling Cup. 3:30pm Eastern, Setanta Sports USA & Setanta Broadband.
2. Inter Milan. At Genoa in Serie A. No live TV, but taped showing at 5:30pm Eastern, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Espanol.
3. Manchester United.
4. Bayern Munich. Home to Borussia Mönchengladbach in German cup tie.
5. Real Madrid. At #22 Valencia. 4pm Eastern, GolTV.
6.
Barcelona.
7. Chelsea. Home versus Leicester City in Carling Cup.
8. FC Porto. Idle but won domestic league game Monday.
9. Olympique Lyon. At Caen in French league cup.
10. Juventus. Home versus Empoli in Serie A.
11. Roma. Face Lazio in Roma derby. 3:30pm Eastern, Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports en Espanol, RAI International.
12. Benfica Lisbon. 4:40 Eastern, Radio Televisao Portuguesa Internacional (RTPi) North America.
13. PSV Eindhoven.
14.
Club America. At Atlante in Apertura. 11pm Eastern, TeleFutura.
15. Olympiakos.
16.
Liverpool. Home versus Cardiff City, Carling Cup.
17. Villareal. Home to Levante in La Liga.
18. Besiktas Istanbul. Home to Rizespor for National Cup (whatever that is).
19. Dynamo Zagreb. Home to Inter Zapresic in HNL Ozujsko (whatever that is).
20. Rangers. At Motherwell for SPL game.
21. Valencia. Host #5 Real Madrid.
22. Celtic Glasgow. Home to Hearts in SPL.
23. Santos Laguna. At Necaxa in Apertura. 9pm Eastern, Galavision.
24.
Werder Bremen. Home to Duisburg in DFB Pokal (German cup).
25. Sao Paulo. Home against America RN in league action.

As you see, it's actually easier to count the idle teams today. There are four: Man U, Barca, PSV and Olympiakos, though it's entirely possible I missed their games somehow. They might also play tomorrow for all I know. Update: Barca does play tomorrow, against Villareal.
