Just What Arsenal Need

So the word is that Arsenal are about to buy another lightweight skill player:

The Russian international Andrei Arshavin has visited the Arsenal training ground and expressed a desire to join the club this month

Arshavin is understood to have visited in the same week that Spartak Moscow played Tottenham Hotspur in the Uefa Cup.

The article does mention that price being demanded by Arshavin's club, Zenit St. Petersburg, may be too high for Arsenal's tastes.

But here's the thing: Arsenal already have Nasri, Denilson, van Persie and Rosicky. What they don't have, however, is what the English like to call a hard-as-nails midfielder -- in other words the Viera/Flamini-style player who can break up plays and also protect the defense.

What's more, there's an argument to be made that they could also use another center back, one of the Vidic/Terry ilk, to add more steel to their back line.

But, Arsene knows what's best for Arsenal. One hopes.
