The Independent newspaper has a nice little feature running today of what they call the 10 Best Transfer Shocks.
The view here is that #3 was probably the biggest of all the shocks -- for one, it was it was actually two transfers. Alas, that day was about as good as it got.
In terms of what proved to be the best transfer, well, #10 involved the greatest player of all time and took a provincial club to among the best in the world for a few seasons, while #1 established a dynasty that's still going strong more than 16 years later. Regardless of who Manchester City sign in the months ahead, they'll do well to beat that.
