Poll Update: Last Chance To Vote For MLS Defender, Comeback Player

Major League Soccer is due to announce the Defender and Comeback Player of the Year award winners today. Soccer Source has been holding its own reader poll on these and other (indeed, all) individual player awards. We even include one for the best referee, a topic readers unequivocally could care less about; 94% of votes in that category went to "who cares? They all suck" instead of to one of the refs who were nominated.

But on to the awards readers might actually care about: New England's Michael Parkhurst is leading the Defender of the Year category with 62% of votes, followed by Chivas' Claudio Suarez (25%) and Houston's Eddie Robinson (12%). In the Comeback Player of the Year category, Colombus' Frankie Hejduk and Kansas City's Eddie Johnson are neck-and-neck with New England's Pat Noonan a more distant third, but still within striking distance. A little over four hours remain until polls close.

Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year will be announced Wednesday, with Soccer Source's polls to be closed the same day (as is true for all categories). Preki is winning the Coach category by a wide margin with Toronto's Maurice Edu ahead in the Rookie vote.
